Winter diary
I witnessed
Wet Snow ( Otherwise known as Ice Sleets in USA and Other commonwealth
countries like Canada it is termed as Ice Pellets) for the first time in
my life although snow was a common phenomenon in winter in USA during my stay
and it was beautiful. Ice pellets are form of rain forming translucent
balls make noise when hits ground or any striking object.
Ice Pellets
In the Northern Hemisphere December, January and February
is considered as winter months. In Canada, however the length of winter varies by region and severity
because of the countries latitudinal range which is marked by extreme cold
weather, wind chill, snow , freezing rain and blizzards. For a person who is from tropical countries like India mostly enjoy the snow but at times it is very
depressing and boring for a stay-home-mom person like me. To overcome this I
started developing interest in many day-to-day activities like bird watching in my backyard and near by areas, painting, photography, reading, writing and blogging .
As a doctorate in Ecology and Environmental Science I always had an interest in birds to
know them closely. I have a huge back yard and a big pine tree which
nurtures various kind of birds, insects and some mammalian species such as Grey
Squirrels, Black Squirrels, Chipmunks, Rabbits and Raccoons (in the night
and disturbs the garbage bins in search of food). I have captured some of the
birds that are daily visitors of my yard. Me and my son feed them very often .
