Pleasant stay at hometown

Image
I belong to Berhampur a small yet important place of south Odisha . My place is famous for the silk (Berhampuri Silk) and it is a major hub for small and big business.  My maternal home is 7 km away from Gopalpur-on-sea in a village known as Ramachandrapur. It is a small village with a population of about 2000. People of the village are mostly farmers earning livelihoods by rice and vegetable farming. Some of the villagers work in construction sites and some have small business in nearby places.  Literacy rate of the village is about 63% out of which female literacy rate is about 27% only. My maternal home is in th eentrace of the village just few steps after the famous Laxminursingha Temple. My mother takes care of the house. We have a huge garden with varieties of flowers, medicinal plants, fruits and vegetables. The home it self is very serene and healing with beauty of nature, peace and away from urban pollution. Some clicks of garden I have captured during my stay in m...

Ambience..

Image
Being a food lover we try out different cuisines. My palate undoubtedly loves Indian food the most but I always love to try out different delicacies and cuisines. Not only I enjoy the food but also the ambience matters to me, be it a big palace or a small cabin,it focuses the character and atmosphere of the place. Recently we had been to many places to dine out but I find few of them have great ambience along with the food.  "Orchid Thai" is a Thai restaurant with great ambience and food. This place have every symbol of Thailand. Thailand a country that is rich in culture, architecture always represented by symbols.       The Ratchaphruek (The golden shower tree or Cassia fistula ) is the National flower of Thailand.                                                         Buddha "Thai Sala " u...

Welcoming Spring !!

...Spring is when life is alive in everything. ~Christtina Rossetti~        Spring marks rebirth, regrowth and rejuvenation. It denotes a new start, gives a new life to Mother Nature. It is one of the four seasons that marks an end of winter. All the trees have started budding.  Day length is increasing as the season progresses. Mushrooms have popped out. Grasses are becoming green. New sprouts have started emerging out from the ground. And I can't wait to enjoy the beautiful spring blossoms in my own front and back yard and near by areas. Few signal of Mother Nature for the onset of Spring, I have clicked through my lens although much of it can only be experienced through inner eye.       Turkey's Tail Fungus or Turkey's Tail Mushroom are one of the mushrooms that actually resembles Turkey's Tail as its name denotes. One can easily differentiate it from other bracket mushrooms those are also very closely related species by seeing at th...

Winter diary

I witnessed Wet Snow ( Otherwise known as Ice Sleets in USA and Other commonwealth countries  like Canada it is termed as Ice Pellets) for the first time in my life although snow was a common phenomenon in winter in USA during my stay and it was beautiful.  Ice pellets are form of rain forming translucent balls make noise when hits ground or any striking object. Ice Pellets In the Northern Hemisphere December, January and February is considered as winter months . In Canada, however the length of winter varies by region and severity because of the countries latitudinal range which is marked by extreme cold weather, wind chill, snow , freezing rain and blizzards. For a person who is from tropical countries like India mostly enjoy the snow but at times it is very depressing and boring for a stay-home-mom person like me. To overcome this I started developing interest in many day-to-day activities like bird watching in my backyard and near by areas, painting, photogra...
